What is FraudWatch® Plus?

FraudWatch® Plus is a fraud monitoring system that uses advanced technology, tools and expertise to continuously monitor our members' accounts for suspicious or high-risk transactions 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

What happens when suspicious or high-risk transactions occur?

As part of the fraud detection process, Fraud Prevention Services (FPS) employs sophisticated risk models that identify known fraud patterns. In the event that a high-risk alert is received for a transaction performed by your Beacon debit card, fraud analysts will review the alert and based on their analysis, will determine whether to call you.

In order to determine the authenticity of the transaction, FPS will make up to 3 attempts to contact you at the phone number on file, leaving messages when they are able. If they cannot successfully contact you, the activity is considered high-risk. FPS will temporarily block your account until they are able to verify the authenticity of the transaction or confirm it as fraud. They will also send a notification advising you that your account has been blocked and directing you to contact them. Note: The account will remain blocked until you are able to verify the transaction with Beacon Federal or Fraud Prevention Services.

It is imperative that you verify and update your contact information periodically to ensure that FPS and Beacon Federal are able to reach you should fraudulent activity occur.

What happens if fraud occurs?

Once you confirm if the activity in question is fraudulent, FPS will permanently block the card involved in the activity. A new debit card(s) can be issued once you have contacted Beacon Federal to confirm the fraudulent activity. To begin the process of seeking reimbursement, call or stop in to a Beacon Federal branch office to speak with a representative. You will need to complete a Debit Card Dispute Form in its entirety and return it to Beacon within 10 business days of your notification from FPS. The Debit Card Dispute Form can be obtained via mail, email, fax, or from your local branch.

Once issued, you should receive your new debit card(s) in the mail within 5-7 business days. If you should need a new debit card(s) sooner than the normal delivery time frame, arrangements can be made to accommodate extenuating circumstances (expedited fees may apply).
